ABSTRACT

The purpose of the study is to understand the importance of the managerial function of a supervisor (principal) to maintain or even improve performance in the field of Education. The aspects studied in this study are the concept of supervision, the principle of supervision, improving teacher performance, approaches, techniques and methods of supervision that are chosen by the principal. This research is a qualitative research with an exploratory approach. Primary data in this study were observations and interviews with school principals and school supervisors, while secondary data were printed and online references that could assist this research. The results in this study are known concepts, principles in carrying out teacher supervision, how to improve teacher performance by using various approaches, techniques and methods that are humane in order to achieve the goal of improving teacher performance.
