REPRESENTATION OF MULTICULTURAL ATTITUDE ON HOLY DAYS OF HINDUS AND MOSLEM IN BAYAN, NORTH LOMBOK, WEST NUSA TENGGARA

This paper is based on research that aims to study the representation of multicultural
attitude of Hindus and Moslem in Bayan, North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This phenomenon
is related to the building of religious consciousness indicated by mutual recognition and mutual
acceptance of the differences that exist between the two religious groups. The awakening of
religious consciousness is actualized in common life, especially on religious holy days. BalineseHindus
and
Sasak-Moslem
embody
tolerance
in
religious
life
are
indicated
by
the
interaction
and

communication made when each of the different faiths carries out religious holy days.
Hindus who carry out religious holy days, such as galungan, kuningan, and other holy days are
enlivened by the Sasak-Moslem ethnic community. It is also the case when the Sasak-Moslem
ethnic community carry out religious festivals, such as maulid, idul fitri, and others also enlivened
by Balinese-Hindus.
The excitement that occurs when there is a tradition to enliven the religious holy days is
part of the representation of religious consciousness that grows in each religion. Along with
enlivening the activities of religious holy days there is also a ngejot tradition, namely to give
food or beverage between religious believers on religious holy days. Religious awareness is
very effective to realize harmony of life because of the tolerance that has grown up among them.
Attitudes of tolerance between different groups of different religions have been established
since the time of history and to this day is still maintained in order to realize social harmony.
